Rail line closed for track work (BBC News)

Passengers are promised a smoother ride once part of the Hull to Scarborough rail line is renewed.

But I don't want a smoother ride! I want to see Class 37's or first gen bog carts again!

It's funny but you do miss jointed track.

When I was a lad all the DMUs I rode on went diddleydee-diddleydum, and when I first started driving EMUs they did the same.

However one day recently I was driving along and I knew something was strangely different. The shiny white ballast gave it away - the Nitwit Rail stinkers had laid miles of continously welded track; all silky smooth and dead quiet, YUK :(

I started driving EMUs when it was like that too, but not for very long.
