Hello

Joined the forum a few minutes ago. I found it whilst Googling for "Slip Coaches". I'm 68 years old and have been interested in railways since I was about 8. I have a soft spot for the GWR and SR, having lived in their regions most of my life. However, the HR and M&SWR are both favourites as I knew and travelled on their routes in their steam hauled days and sadly watched as the HR was desecrated some 40 odd years ago. My only claim to fame is that I travelled on the last train (night-sleeper ex Inverness) on the Waverly Line. Since Beeching I take every opportunity to explore wherever rails once shone.

I hope that I may be able to answer the odd question and will certainly "join in" if I have anything to offer.

Welcome to the group Grimpen. Are you aware of this interesting and useful web site? http://www.swindonsotherrailway.co.uk/

I have specialised collections of both MSWJR and HR luggage labels.

Hello Grimpen and welcome aboard. I am 65 years old so also remember steam days with affection, but I am in LNER land. ;)

Hi Grimpen,
Welcome to the forum. As I have said many times, we oldies have seen the most wonderful things on rails.
I enjoy looking at places that have lost the rails as well. Put me on an old trackbed and my imagination will add the missing bits.
Enjoy the forum.
Paul.
