Eurostar Paris - London 4th Sept.

Even I will admit there is more to railways than steam ;)

I think yesterday's Paris - St Pancras run is a fantastic acheivement and should be congratulated. I am thinking especially of the building of the line and reopening of St Pancras.

I'm glad that St Pancras has retained it's cathedral like look.

Now, how about building a similar high speed line along the spine of the country to Glasgow/Edinburgh, and then we can all join in! :)

Yes, great news. Another good thing was that the new line was completed on time and on budget. So now we should be definitely continuing north with the same team.

Good idea. Which route would you take?
i.e. What cities would you connect up?

Great news about Eurostar's achievement. It should definitely be congratulated.

High Speed 2 must happen! The Scotish Pariament are very keen at their end.

Any route that would get past the NIMBYS. The best use would be to get fast service between London and Scotland, and maybe cut out those environmently unfriendly short haul flights.

Wish list, but not very practical, would be London - Birmingham - Bradford (being central to Lancs and Yorkshire) - Glasgow or Edinburgh.

Just imagine, Eurostars at speed through the northern Pennines!

Wow Trev, There's a thought!

Best wishes,

My route is as follows:-

London, Luton (airport), Milton Keynes and then Birmingham. I suppose then you would have to go to Manchester.

Then tunnel under the Pennines to Leeds, (flattening Huddersfield on the way:p) and on up to Newcastle, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Have I missed out anywhere important?
