Rotherwas Shunting Engine
Coming out of work yesterday saw that the recycling centre on our industrial estate has added a shunting locomotive to the waggon on the short section of track at the top of their drive.
I need to do some research on the make and class, but I think it is as shunter left over from the days when Rotherwas in Hereford was a munitions factory. The loco is in army green and has Army written on the side. Can anyone add any info before I do any digging. A walk and a few photos in order next time I'm in the office. |
Have you had a chance to photo the loco yet ?

Looking forward to seeing your pics. When I lived in Herefordshire I regularly visited the council depot at Rotherwas and noted the remains of the long-closed former GWR tracks in the area.

Hope the pictures are clear enough, sun shining in wrong direction.
The loco identity is; ARMY 220 BII SA http://www.railwayforum.net/attachme...1&d=1471335932 http://www.railwayforum.net/attachme...1&d=1471335932 |
Definately looks like an Andrew Barclay 0-4-0DM - the army had several of these such as Army 235 which is preserved on the Isle of Wight Railway.

Thanks Tony, I will do some more digging locally and see what I can find out about this little Barclay.
