Train guards in Essex are due to walk out for a second day over the sacking of a colleague.

There might be more conversation,(so to speak) on this subject if people knew a bit more about the subject, but once again the report fails to go into detail of the incident with the fare dodger.

Yeah, precisely, I don't really want to say negative things about the train company if the gaurd deserves to have been sacked. On the other hand I don't want to stick up for them if they fired him for some petty reason.

Listening to the radio on way to work this morning it was said that a train guard was sacked when he went to the assistance of the passangers on the train when a fare dodger was threatning them with a broom. Well correct me if I'm wrong is that not the job of the train guard. If this is true then it says a lot about the company he works (delibrate) for. Les |
If that's the case he deserves rewarding, not sacking. He risked his own safety to help others, he went above and beyond what was expected of him. The worlds gone mad.

This seems a bit unfair on the guard. His efforts are rewarded with the sack sahme on Great eastern.
