hi everyone. iv'e been digging a little into local history and railways are a huge part of it. I hope nobody objects to me 'using' this site as a reference for my inquiring mind.

Hello flashingblade and welcome to the Railway Forum. There are a lot of ex-railway men and some ladies as well as railway fans on this site who are a wealth of information. I am not that informed on British Railways. Most of what I know comes from this site, books and videos that I have watched.
