Hi
Daft question time !!!!!

Can an American diesel loco like the one in the pic run on UK track ?

Daft answer time as well...........Well it would fit on the rails as both systems are 4ft 8.5 iins but more than likely it would do some damage to platform edges, tunnels, and bridges not to mention itself as the loading gauge, as it used to be called, is more generous over there

Yea, they're big machines.

I watched an old VHS tape of the class 66s for EWS being manufactured in London, Ontario.

On the factory floor the locos destined for the UK looked like little toys compared with the other ones they were constructing - especially the Indian monsters.

General Motors had a big challenge squeezing all the equipment into the limited dimensions, particularly since we require a cab at both ends of a Uk loco.

Actually I was having a chat with a friend of mine the other day about whether there are any steam/diesel American locos in the UK. He said the only one he could think of was the Yankee Tank at the Bluebell.

Does anyone know of any other USA locos located here in the UK ?

A couple of industrial Diesels as well.
I think Ford had one and another in S Wales.

The quarry at Rylstone near Skipton also has a rather large shunter that I think can out pull a 66.
That may be US built as well not sure though.

Thought that shunter at Rylestone was a class 20 but then realised that was a Corus one
Rylestones one is thishttps://www.flickr.com/photos/60539035@N02/5922885921/
