Passing signals at danger - quietly

Well we've had another UK Rulebook revision recently.

And it would seem that the Noise Abatement complainers have had their way again.

So now when passing a signal at danger (with authority) it is no longer required to sound a low tone on the horn/whistle before moving off.

You may remember that a few years ago they removed the requirement to sound the horn when entering & leaving tunnels, and before that they removed the necessity to sound the horn when passing a stationary train in a station.

At this rate they won't need to fit horns on the next generation of trains.

I suppose we could always email or twitter someone if we see them on the lineside ! ;)

Progress!! I miss those sounds. It was all part of the railways for me, and added a much anticipated expectation of whats to come!! We used to guess the engine by its whistle in the distance.
I like your suggestion about the "email or twitter" made me laugh
Cheers
Phil
