A US senator has had a close call with a train during a news conference on rail safety.

Richard Blumenthal was standing close to the platform edge during a speech by Milford Mayor Ben Blake, when a train hurtled past, disturbing a diagram.
The senator and Milford Mayor Ben Blake should have read their own safety speech before standing so close to the platform edge.

Idiots and politicians seem to naturally belong in the same sentence.

Perhaps they thought their position in life, automatically makes them safe in any event?
