Longest Metro Systems

Here is the list of longest metro systems around the world. Any views on them or any other metro system missing in the list which are even longer?

Hi Emily, Have you travelled on any of these? I have been on the Madrid Metro and the London Underground but I would like to see the one in Moscow I understand it is quite palatial.

interesting stuff. Wonder what the shortest ones are? Glasgow and the Midland metro might be in the mix.

Hi Richard, That mono rail at the Merry Hill shopping centre in your neck of the woods is a contender, I don’t know if it is still there. The substantial investment in a station and Swiss trains just to move people from the car park to the shops; I thought it would be expanded out to other Black Country towns.

Don't know if Monorails count, but I was on one last year called the People Mover in Venice, takes you from where the cruise ships dock to the bus station, about half a mile long. Fully automated including getting tickets.

Sadly the monorail at Merry Hill is long gone. Most of the passengers were just having a ride to try it out.

It will be fascinating to come back to this link in several years time and see how some of the metro systems in Asian cities will have grown beyond belief and occupy all the top places in the table!
