New York train crash.

our people have been killed and 63 injured in a passenger train crash in the Bronx area of New York City.

Eleven of the injured are believed to be in a critical condition in hospital.
The Metro-North train's locomotive and carriages derailed as the train went into a bend in the railway line near Spuyten Duyvil station.
At least one eyewitness said the train - the 05:54 from Poughkeepsie to Grand Central Station - was travelling much faster than normal at the time

Tragic accident!
My sincere sympathies are with the families of the dead and injured.
I have heard the train may have been going too fast due to a brake failure? That was the latest news but has yet to be confirmed.
Very sad though

Very strange this, as before we heard the news of this, I had told my wife I had dreamt of a train derailing and of American railways the night before. I DO hate it when these come true, and obviously sympathise with those killed and/or injured.

Just heard on the news the Driver nodded off just before the bend and the train derailed at a lot more than the 30 mph speed limit. Strange that because surely there are warning bells or alarms sounding if things are not right in the cab? Not sure how these things work in America! BBC news.
Sad loss of life
Phil
