Help please
Hi all members,
I need some help please ! I have recently purchased one of the castings for the the Record plate / plaque that is on the Mallard. It Identical to the 2 that are currently mounted on either side of the Mallard. It has the inscription " LNER . On 3rd July 1938 this locomotive attained a world speed record for steam traction of 126 miles per hour " It is in fantastic condition , and it has been tastefully mounted on a round wooden disc . It weighs about 7.5 kg . I was told by the person I purchased it from that 4 of them were originally cast , 2 of which are on the Mallard and mine is one of the other two . Can anyone give me any more information about the " Record Plate " ie . . . Who cast them ect . . Also an idea of its value would be great . If you would like to see some pictures , please feel free to email me at [email protected] |
Post a photo into the Gallery Vinni182, that way you are more likely to get a few results.

Sorry Vinni, but it sounds a bit suspicious to me.:(

Take it to the home of Mallard get it examined there and I am sure you will either be delighted or gutted {depending what you paid for it} with the result.Plus you will have a great day out!!!

This fullsize replica was produced in 1988 as a limited edition of 250. Could yours be a remounted version of this?
As Stuart says, get it checked out by the experts....it might be worth a fortune. Attachment 2473 |
