Train hits car on Great Coates level crossing killing two.

Two people have been killed in a crash involving their car and a train on a level crossing in North East Lincolnshire.
The crash happened at Great Coates, near Grimsby, Humberside Police have confirmed.
It is not clear whether any train passengers were hurt, but the force said the train was not derailed.

Not familiar with the area but just looked on Google Earth the pictures have been recently re-newed and show half barriers without Skirts or whatever they are called and from one direction it is after a sharp bend

not heard too much
but this is the first accident in that village
None of the 5 passengers on the train were hurt
locals heard a very loud bang and saw flying debris

Police say it was possibly driver error, but who else can be blamed, a bird in the trees nearby, for crying out loud?

I read about it. Were the barriers working correctly? If so, it can only be human error unless something near impossible happened like the car's accelerator sticking...

Local news has reported the barrier WERE working correctly

but everything has gone quiet except the report that investigations were continuing
