So very very sad and I agree with your word "pointless".

Yes Folos it does seem a shame that all that hard work by the
volunteers has been vandalised.

This vandalism is now commonplace and I fear is just an indication of how we are sliding inexorably toward anarchy. It's just down the road from me. I live in what was the staion masters house at Gwys staion on the Swansea Vale railway (about 20 miles North of Swansea). The Swansea Vale linked Swansea (St. Thomas) with Brynaman, my house is on that line about 5 miles from Brynaman. There was a junction near Ystradgynlais which branched to Coelbren and Brecon/Hereford. It was the Midland railway's 'back door' into GWR territory. No passenger trains ran after 1950. but goods remained until early 60s and track was lifted then. The side of my garden is the embankment on which the line ran.

Hi Les I always get feeling of nostalgia when I see locations that were at one time working railways and now either built on or left as wasteland. A line I fired on from Palace Gates to Seven Sisters ( North London ) was lifted in the 1960s and sometimes when I pass it I recall my steam days.
