Rain stops play.

After having what seemed the hottest day of the year at home I was surprised to see what woes the rain was causing further north.

Rail distruption has been massive especially on the ECML. Seems lots of problems with sheer volumes of water. Not right in June!!
The disruption is also causing a lot of headaches for our heritage railway sites with a big drop in revenue! due to the drop in visitors! Not good for sure.
When will we get a summer anyone?????
Cheers
Phil

We could have already had it Phil but I hope not. Remember that last week of May with cloud free skies and sunshine - well that's how it was in Shropshire anyway. Tomorrow my wife and I head for 2 weeks based in Keswick by train to Penrith. I'm just hoping that it won't be a 15 hour journey. Rain forecast Saturday to Tuesday at least.

I know that there was a fair amount of vegetation around the lines where there were land slips, but the cutting back of trees near the line is only going to cause more landslips. I think that with no roots to bind the top soil, heavy rain will cause more and more problems. What do others think?
