Hello folks

Just joined to see if there are any other sad cases like me. I managed to get through several decades of happy (train free) living only to take a random visit to a rail museum and find that I was hooked on steam? I don't know much about it (yet) but am absolutely fascinated, and hoping to learn more.
Regards from a new boy

Hello Hayden, and welcome to the forum.
We are a friendly bunch on here from all walks of the railway world.
You sound very much like I did back in 2006 ish I think when a trip to the North Yorkshire Moors rekindled my interest in all thing steam. My era was mainly late 50's to the mid 60's. Now I cant get enough and attend all manner of events and galas. Theres always something going on somewhere to keep my busy. I love photography in the main. Anyway enough of me how about you? Look forward to your posts and enjoy your new interest.
Cheers
Phil

Hello Hayden, and welcome to the Railway Forum. There is nothing sad about being hooked on steam. Most members on this site are also hooked on steam.

Hello Hayden.
Get yourself down to The East Lancashire Railway at Bury {or Heywood} which can't be that far from you. You'll see all sorts of steam loco's running on this line most week-ends.
If you think that old chinese loco was massive at NRM wait 'till you see the magnificent Duke of Gloucester which lives at E.L.R.

Hello Hayden

Welcome to the railway buffers! Yes I stopped collecting numbers for 25 years but the urge returned. Being in the Manchester area you could visit the East Llancashire Railway to see them in action today. Enjoy your interest.
Chris
