St Leonards shunters
As I flashed past St Leonards depot (home base of Hastings Diesels Ltd's preserverved Thumper DeMU) last week on a Southern service to Hastings, HDL's class 07 shunter No.07011 was in the yard with another shunter. It was a BR blue 08 or 09 shunter, but I couldn't get the number as we passed so quickly. Anyone know anything about this one?

Thanks for the info Gray, that's great. Maybe asking a lot, but I don't suppose your contact knows why it's there?

Well, answering my own question after a bit of searching on t'internet, it appears that 08925 arrived by road last Tuesday, which was the day I passed on the train. It was unloaded by 07011 and shunted into the shed for mechanical work to be undertaken as seen in the attached links:

Interesting read......

I remember 08925 as one of the Preston shunters in the 80s. 08846 was the other regular though we did get others at times.
I passed Neville Hill today. the was a blue 08 with a red cab. Any ideas to it's identity? |
On WNXX the only 08 at Neville Hill is 08 525.
