Hello, and a Question...

Hello everyone, it's good to have found this forum, I'm a lifelong lover of all things railway.

I have a question. I don't know if this is the right place to ask, if not perhaps somebody could point me to the right part of the forum?

What is the name of the font which was used on Southern Railway locomotives, such as the (replica) one above? Is it copyrighted or can anybody use it?

Ta!

I should know this, but I'm horrified to realise that I don't! I'll start delving into the dark recesses of my memory (and my old typeface books) to find the answer.

Welcome to the forum, Harry. Enjoy.

Helo Harry
I've seen the Southern lettering described as "expanded Egyptian serif" I think the term Egyptian is a general one so the actual font has probably got a more specific name.

Thanks for the welcome everyone!

Thanks for the help with the typeface question too, by searching Egyptian typefaces I have found one called "Giza one five" which looks like it could be the one.
