Hello, and a Question...
Hello everyone, it's good to have found this forum, I'm a lifelong lover of all things railway.
I have a question. I don't know if this is the right place to ask, if not perhaps somebody could point me to the right part of the forum? http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b3...-web-large.jpg What is the name of the font which was used on Southern Railway locomotives, such as the (replica) one above? Is it copyrighted or can anybody use it? Ta! |
I should know this, but I'm horrified to realise that I don't! I'll start delving into the dark recesses of my memory (and my old typeface books) to find the answer.
Welcome to the forum, Harry. Enjoy. |

Hello Harry. Nice to meet you. Welcome to the forum.

Hello Harry and welcome to the Railway Forum. Sorry but I'm no help with the question ether
|
Helo Harry
I've seen the Southern lettering described as "expanded Egyptian serif" I think the term Egyptian is a general one so the actual font has probably got a more specific name. |
Thanks for the welcome everyone!
Thanks for the help with the typeface question too, by searching Egyptian typefaces I have found one called "Giza one five" which looks like it could be the one. |
Welcome to the Forum Harry. Glad we have found an answer for you.
Best wishes, John H-T. |
Hi Harry and a warm welcome from me too and I hope you enjoy the company of other like minded!
Regards Phil |
