Loch Tay
Am doing some resurch and would like any photo's or track plans for Loch Tay station, shed and quey and the general area even recent photos of whats left would be great, thanks Steve

There are several books with photos of the Killin Branch in them including photos of the shed down by the Loch. I will have a look and post the titles.

There is a beautiful colour picture of the station on page 31 of Hugh Ballantyne's book "Scottish Steam in Colour" published in 1986. Obviously still copyright so I can't reproduce the image but the ISBN is 0 7106 0403 3.

There is a useful photo of Loch Tay Station, loop and shed in Lost Lines in Scotland by Nigel Welbourn, pub Ian Allan, last reprint 2001. ISBN 0 7110 2276 3. The photo was taken April 1964. The Station Building was a private house by then, having closed to passengers September 1939, although goods traffic continued until November 1964 and the shed was still used till then.
I think I have books with other photos but it is like finding a needle in a haystack. The track plan for Loch Tay should be at the NRM, although I am not sure if Scotish Station Plans are kept at York. Hope this helps and I will keep looking. Best wishes, John H-T. |
