Is the Bachmann one out yet? I know the 57 is, I suppose we can judge from that in terms of mechanism & level of detail.

I would imagine both the Heljan and forthcoming Bachmann would be better than the ageing Hornby offering. I'm looking forward to the new Hornby 56, though.

The Bachmann 47 is slightly better than the Heljan one but the Bachmann one is only available in BR green and BR blue where as you can get near enough any livery from Heljan. Just have to wait to see what liveries next for the Bachmann 47. The model rail mag has done reviews on both Bachmann and Heljan 47s showing the pros and cons can't remember which issues though.

I don't think it's been released yet either.

Pre production pictures that I've seen look good, but I just wish that they'd release a model in BR blue, but with pre tops numbers! :(
