Mallard 70th Anniversary motor gear slip!

Hi there, we recently purchased the above, as new and now that we have come to run it we find that the gearing is not engaged correctly and whilst it runs one way on reverse it disengages and then can not be run at all without re positioning the gear over the cogs.

On opening we find that the motor drive is not even touching the gears due to the way the motor has been fitted. Apparently this is common but an easy fix, we are having difficulty undoing the screw that hold the motor mount so that we can hopefully resit the motor.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated and if this is a common problem,

thanks,

If this is a recent purchase as you say, take it back to the retailer where you bought it and demand one that works! It is his responsibility to sell you one that works not yours to repair a faulty purchase.

Thanks Tony, yes it is recent, it was a private sale done over the internet,

Conclusion!

Hornby rectified the situation with free workshop adjustment and postage costs.
