Train derailed in norway
http://www.nrk.no/nyheter/distrikt/h...land/1.7778298
A train derailed at 06:45 monday morning after the railway was washed away due to heavy rain. The railway line was checked before the weekend and nothing wrong was found with the line. Something must have blocked the water and the water then washed away the railway bank. It is also raining heavily in southern sweden but no railway banks have been washed away. But if it will, we probably would hera about it here at the railway training centre. |
By the cringe... I presume the unit had actually gone over the suspended track and derailed? If so that must have given the driver a real buttock clenching moment!

I bet.
Seems the driver was low flying as well. "Police said the train flew 10 feet before it landed with a crash." |
Well at least they know where the lineside cables are now.
Also it shows how effective Fastclips are for securing the sleepers to the rails. Normally in a case like this some sleepers would have dropped off. |
The same thing happened some years ago in sweden. A train derailed when the railway as well as the road was washed away. No sleepers fell off then either. But that was E-clip. Fastclip is good. In sweden we started to use it last year. But it was used when the railway to Arlanda was built in the 90's.
Fastenings that have been used in sweden can be seen in my blog in a post from yesterday; http://bantekniker.bloggplatsen.se/2...06-befastning/ |
Looks bad and what a fright for the driver, bet he thought the end is nigh! Hope no one was injured though looking at the unhinged seating I wonder?
Thanks for posting. regards phil |
