I photographed this from the revamped mini railway at York. No idea what it would have carried but it looks huge!

It looks like a "walrus" ballast carrying wagon.

Does anyone know the number of that wagon?
I cannot make it out on the plate.
Also when did it appear at the NRM?

A Walrus ballast hopper is approx 40t capacity of track ballast.
Developed originally by the Southern Railway built at Ashford.
They have a direct link to 1970s built Seacows, Sealions etc. Some of these later wagons are still in service but only just as they have themselves been replaced by 90t capacity newer hopper wagons.

It was around August this year, it was outside on the track of the revised miniature railway.
