A failed "Lizzie"

I have on my layout 6201 and she is the 1951/2 model, a good old timer. She has been runnning perfectly with no problems whatsoever, I have not been overloading her or running it at speed, just gently "trundling" round....but DISASTER ! This morning.....nothing ! She just will not go at all, completely dead.
Now I do most of my own repairs to wagons and locos when it comes to couplings, wheels, painting etc etc, but electric motor problems I do not get involved because I do not have the knowledge and putting 2and2 together it looks as if this IS an electric motor problem. Can anyone give me advice please and if it is the motor, how can I get it fixed and roughly how much would it cost please ? Because I would like to keep the old Loco running if possible.

Thank you.

do you know, i think i have one just like it, if you'r talking about a triang one. (unfortunately in a similar or worse condition). I can do a thing or two with a busted electric motor but 1. i'm hardly going to visit you, and 2. you would'nt want to trust me with it anyway.
you might have heard of east kent models. they sell old model railway (mainly 00 gauge) parts for relatively cheap prices. they have a webpage and they do exhibitions round the country. but before you find a new motor you might want to try just checking electrical contacts around the motor (I trust you can do a bit of soldering where needed). or find a friend who knows about model railway electrics.
i'm not at present doing anything about my one. I've inherited three old triang locos (all basically kaput) and at present I'm only fixed on getting one refurbished (a little black tank engine with smoke machine). but i've got a museum in my bedroom so 6201's just a 'static exhibit'. the other loco (BR class 37) i spilt white spirit on and ruined the bodywork (dad wasn't happy). hope i can help (or at least provide some sympathy). I'd like to know if you get it working again...

Hi ECML43,
"What's wrong with Valentas?" Try as you might but you will never get one into 6201!
I have dealt with East Kent Models in the past; excellent service and surprising just what stocks they carry.

Hello both, thanks for your replies, I will go on their website and see what I can do. I will keep you informed. I have been ill for a few days recently, so as soon as I feel better than I do now, I will get on to it.
Many thanks.
