A brilliant new Chinese train innovation

A brilliant new Chinese train innovation - get on & off the bullet train without the train stopping. VERY COOL CONCEPT !
No time is wasted. The bullet train is moving all the time. If there are 30
stations between Beijing and Guangzhou, just
stopping and accelerating again at each station will waste both energy and
time.
A mere 5 min stop per station (elderly passengers cannot be hurried) will
result in a total loss of 5 min x 30 stations or 2.5 hours of train
journey time!

Ah, but slip coaches were only used for drops, not pick ups !:D

Perhaps Michael could try dropping off your shopping without stopping next time ?:D

Elderly passengers cannot be hurried? Tell that to East Midlands Trains! Intermediate stops are usually timed at 90 seconds on the Midland line.

Great idea, but with anything mechanical; If it can go wrong, it will.

klordger1900 19th April 2010 19:35

It looks like they free wheel into the station and use momentum to reach the OLE on the other side so presumably there isnt a problem with arcing in wet weather??
