The train driver must have been well shocked. Hope it does not derter him from doing the sterling job of keeping trains safe.
Farmer should have been made to pay for the damage too.

What over £160,000? He'd have to sell his farm, probably not worth that much :)

I guess the Judge decided it wasn't a big deal. It was only a train - it didn't derail and nobody was seriously injured. (Not my opinion of the seriousness, but possibly his).

Possibly because he didn't have the money to pay it. If he's daft enough to park his trailer on a running line he may not be awfully good at farming either. :rolleyes:

After watching the video, i still can't believe the farmer left the trailor obstructing the track, i assume he was a local man and knew the line was in use, you could'nt make it up.

I think they should have banned him from driving (oh but his livelihood might suffer!) and make him re-take a driving test with special reference to safety on the tracks (a network rail course) I wonder if he ever took a driving test in the first place? That man is an idiot and very likely to something just as stupid in the future - God help us!

£4000 a week to keep him!!!
