Hollycombe Steam Collection - Fairground Weekend 2012

Hollycombe Steam Collection in Liphook, Hants will be holding their annual Fairground Weekend & Mechanical Organ Gathering over the weekend of 21st & 22nd July.

Joining the collection's resident steam fairground rides this year, will be the circa 1964 Supercar Dodgem track owned by Dave Hunt. Joining this fantastic attraction will be the truly authentic Victorian sideshow “Voltini Sideshows”, be amazed as 'Madame Electra', the voluptuous lady of lightning defies death in the electric chair, and see the impossible become possible as Electra withstands 27,000 volts searing through her body.*

Other attractions include; from the Harris family of Ashington fleet, Solly Harris's hand turned Juvenile Ark roundabout with Sam Harris's Cork Shooter and Harley Harris's traditional strikers as some of the supporting side show attractions. Steam exhibits will include the 1904 Burrell Showman’s Road Loco ‘Lady Pride of England’ a half size Showman’s Road Loco and a Showman’s livery model Foden steam lorry There will also be a fairground model display, a small display area of vintage transport and living wagons, plus fairground organs that form part of the Mechanical Organ Gathering that runs alongside the event. This sees a good gathering of fairground and street organs of all sizes from early 1800s organettes to hand turned street organs to the larger dance/street and fairground models.

All this plus the collection’s other attractions including the steam railways, traction engine hauled rides and grade 2 listed Woodland Gardens.

See www.hollycombe.co.uk for opening times prices & further information.

Hi Jpiner and welcome to the forum.
Is this anywhere near the old Longmoor Military Railway. I was stationed there in 1968 just after it finished running a training camp for the RE railways. The names Liss and Liphook take me right back!
Anyway hope all go's well and one day I would like to visit Longmoor again though I know it is no longer a camp!
All the best
Phil
