Hello from a newbie

My name is Alan and retired, I live in Lincolnshire near Horncastle, we moved from the Rotherham area in the late 70's, (hence the Yorkie bit). I have been interested in railways most of my life, both spotting and modelling, it's mostly modelling now (0gauge) with the occasional trip out for photo's of infrastucture etc. As I originate from the Rotherham area my main interests are ex LNER, ex GC, ex LMS and the South Yorkshire Joint. Living now in Lincolnshire where we have virtually no railway system (thanks to Beeching), but now I'm retired and have a bit more time I am interested in the East Lincolnshire Railway (ELR) that ran north to south, from Grimsby to Peterborough, and the Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway (M&GNJR) system that ran across the lower part of Lincolnshire to north Norfolk.

Hi Alan and a warm welcome to the forum. Nice to see a fellow Lincolnshire man. My old stomping ground was Market Rasen (50's), Lincoln (60's) and then we moved to Peterborough (70's) before ending up in Derby!
Great days on the ECML with the LNER etc. Got to agree with your sentiments re the south Lincs area. Anyway hope you enjoy
Regards
Phil

Hello Syd,
No photo's of the old layout, never thought to take any as it was a bit naff and I've sold all the rubbish remnants. I am in the process of building stock for the new one which is at the planning stage, it will be a condensed version of Spilsby, keeping most of the plan but losing one siding. I will be setting it as it may have been in the late 50's and 60's, if you look at disused_stations it will give you some idea.

Hello Alan,
Welcome to the forum. We will be looking forward to posts about your model railway as you build it. I am currently building an N gauge layout 6' x 1', (I live in a tiny flat). I will get round to attempting to post some photos of progress so far.
Regards, Tony.
