Hey! Pleased to Meet you, as my name suggests I am undertaking some research on rail routes, mainly for freight and I would love it if anyone can point me in the direction of some maps for these types of routes, especially but not necessary if they also include data on the track gauges.

My daughter recommends the following;
TRACKatlas of Mainland Britain by Mike Bridge.
Midlands and North West Book 4 (Railway track diagrams) by Mike Bridge.
Both available on the net.

They're very detailed though, and are like zooming in with a microscope. If you're not familiar with the terminology you might find them a tad daunting, but they're Freebies so it's worth the risk. ;)

Hi Ya BW,
The brainiac on that game show Pointless says that, but not the BW part.
Found yer archive track route diags very interesting.
Snavelled em all while at the local library yesterday.
Found Kings Lynn junction in the Anglia ones, but not the actual Kings Lynn station.
Will hafta take a longer gander at em.
Found Paddington station in the Western ones.
Platform 1 looks to be as long as our smog hollow Sydney platform 1.
But, there appears to be a cleft in the platform at Paddington.
Paddington station appeared in a late niter TV docco a couple of nites ago.
But, it were platform 4 (from memory) that was giving all the grief, points failure wise.

My Salt Mine can be seen on section 1162/007 of my Anglia 'sexual appendage'. If you have the same copy it's on page 124 - which is actually 192/500 if you type it directly into the little pdf window thingy.

Hope this makes sense. :confused:

As with all things pdf, the trick is to download it. Looking at it online doesn't give you access to as many 'functions'.

And yes, I cringe when I see train companies opening their doors to the TV. It often makes us look even stupider than we already are. Which is quite an achievement! As granny Belderson used to say, "only a fool washes their dirty washing in public".
