Another Pommy soot belcher on late nite tv here
 

G'day,
Whilst flicking the TV remote channels last nite, I came across an episode of Heston.
I missed the start.
But, it was his Breaky special.
He hired a train to cart patrons around giving them his usual weird meals.
Stating that you Poms don't do breaky much any more.
It being the most important meal of the day.
I only caught a brief glimpse of the soot belcher.
It was red in livery and sported the numerals 48624.
I think.
I was reclining in bed at the time so the TV was at a distance.
I am wondering just which hysterical mob he hired the train from and where it rattled.

48624 is a Stanier 8F 2-8-0 built in 1943 and now based on the Great Central Railway.

The 8Fs are heavy freight locomotives (class 8), designed by (Sir) William Stanier for the London Midland & Scottish Railway (LMS), but were also chosen as a wartime loco in WWII, before the War Department produced their own designs. As a result, this LMS design was produced by 'rival' companies during the war & 48624 is one of these, being built by the Southern Railway at Ashford in 1943.
Oh, and it was never anything other than black during it's working life - the red livery is a preservation flight of fancy, but it did revert to black later during it's period in traffic.

Thanx for that info.
I guess that Heston woulda liked the bright red soot belcher livery for his tv show.
The edible morning newspaper was amusing.
Truly digesting the news.
I also guess that them Heston weird meals tv series are fairly ancient now days.
I have squizzed a number of repeats, but that was the first time squizzing the soot belcher episode.
