1910 Railway Profession Inquiry

Hi,

I am a student at NYU currently researching Italian immigration. I was wondering if you could kindly help me in deciphering a word on a 1910 Federal Census from Roxbury Township in Morris County (specifically on Main Street). The final entry on that page of the census, Franco Piombino, is an Italian immigrant listed as working in the railway industry (specifically, "RR Engine" under industry), but the specific occupation is undecipherable. It appears to read "Wifer" or "Wifeer" but is unclear. I was hoping that someone may know what it reads, given their knowledge of railway history and that specific time period.

Thank you so much for any assistance you can provide in this matter.

Hi nyustudent and welcome to the forum. I imagine the occupation could read wirer with something to do with electrics! Just a thought! Can't help with the other questions! Sorry
All the best
Phil

I assume you have tried more US based web forums first.
As UK occupation names may be totally different and US titles would be meaningless to us here in the UK.
