New Member says Hello.
So Hello, my name is Dave, I am 64 years old, Married and live in Queensland the hot part of Australia.
I have been interested in trains all my life with many childhood visits to New Street Station Birmingham, of course to collect train numbers, ahh still dreaming about those Jubilee, Scot and Patriot engines, it never leaves me, fifty years later and still wondering why Mum and Dad came over here. My first layout was based on a Hornby 3 rail Dutchess of Atholl loco, aged 12, I have built a few layouts since mainly HO and N Gauge but never got very far with them, mainly due to family commitments. My current layout which I have called Boulder Valley is what I call a Hotch Potch Layout, freelance all the way, set sometime in the 60s at an unknown location that came straight out of my head. I think my problem is I like so much model railway equipment that I did not want to get tied into any particular thing, this of course gives me the freedom to do and run what I please, I find that enhances the fun aspect of the hobby for me. Anyone wishing to take a look at the layout the link is bellow, lovely to be on a forum where there seems to be a lot British stuff to look at. |
Hi Dave welcome to the forum, I'm not really into model railways but yours looks good.
|
Hello Dave and welcome to the forum. It's good to have another modeller onboard.
Hope you don't mind but I have moved your post to the "Say Hello" forum where I think more members will see it.:) |
Hello Dave and welcome to the Forum.
Chris. |
Hi Dave, welcome to the forum
|
Welcome Dave,
You are sure to find something in this forum to keep you happy. Paul. |
Welcome Dave.
For me, I like seeing the variety of non-British stuff on model layouts like yours, and photos of trains around the world. |
Thank you all for the welcome, its nice to be here.
|
Hi Dave,
Welcome to the Forum, Best wishes, John H-T. |
Welcome to the forum Dave.
Nice layout. I've always liked the idea of a purely fictional model railway. It's your world and you're free to do your own thing! |

Looked at American stuff, lots to choose from here in Australia, so many railroads to choose from, got confusing, finally decided to go freelance, the way I see it if I repaint my rolling stock I can run anything I like. |
Hi Dave,
Welcome to the forum, your model looks rather nice, am just trying to get back into the modelling side, starting again in N gauge this time hopefully Les |

Hops?
Hi Dave,
Is Hops farm the name of the farm or are they growing Hops? For me and I suspect a few others the idea of growing Hops leads to there being a Brewery around. So will it be in the industrial area or centre of town (near the church) Welcome to the fun. John (G) |
Dave,
Like your site. Look forward to further posts. Best wishes, John H-T. |

I have a lot of work to do on the Hops Farm, realy just the Oast House sitting there at the moment, yes there will be two pubs on the layout, one just near the Church. |

No worries John, will spend a bit of time on the internet looking for a suitable type of brewery to model, I have just the right spot to put it. |
