The world’s busiest train stations?

I've had the pleasure of passing through a few of these stations on my travels and most are incomparable to how busy some of the stations in the UK are, although I'd put clapham junction up there with some of these.

Here's the list: http://www.railway-technology.com/fe...rain-stations/

What stations have you come across throughout the globe that are incredibly busy and are well over capacity?

I'm sure Clapham Junction is Britain's busiest railway station in terms of the number of trains passing through, but this brief article concerns passenger numbers, which is a wholly different yardstick. Nevertheless I'm surprised Waterloo doesn't feature in their list.

Although I've never been to India I would say the cities of Mumbai and Calcutta have some of the world's busiest stations with huge passenger numbers and extreme overcrowding.

Koln Hbf has gotta be up there...

I would imagine Crewe to be there about's too as one to add to busy stations in the UK.
Just got back from Paris Nord and yes it was a busy station.

I think Birmingham New St. might qualify, not only is it a destination, but also an exchange station.
I agree with Phil. that Paris Gare du Nord is very busy, together with Paris Lyon, when a double decker duplex arrives with 16-18 coaches, the platform is packed with people.

Hi Phil,
Crewe used to be very busy back in steam days but now you can read a paper between trains! If you want busy in UK then it is a toss up between Clapham Junction and London Bridge. I believe that the busiest station in the world is a few miles from Tokyo.

Must admit Tony it has been a long time since my spotting days at Crewe, 1962/3 I believe! Seems so long ago now? Guess times have changed.

Watch Indian Railways and see 8,000,000 pass through Mumbai Station every morning.Got to admit I didn't personally count them.
