Pet stations?

Any of us who train spot will probably have a pet station. One we like and seem to have a connection with. Network or heritage, any gauge too.

Mine is Hale station in Cheshire. I can be found there most weekends (in the summer mind, but will go for a snow pic) just relaxing and taking numbers of the trains.

Here is a pic or two:

In the above pic I like to stand on the right hand side by the platform fence with 360 degree views and a nice place to be.

On one of those photos, was there a bus in the background ? :D

On the bus, were there any pets ? (you did say it was a pet station :D)

Were those pets cats ???????????? ;)

Well some people feed it (drop litter) but it is well maintained by mid chehsire rail. However, in the resored booking office there has been some vandalism this weekend with spray paint. Ruffians!

To (Probably in vain) try to keep this thread on track, As a schoolboy my favourite Spotting spot was the south end of platform 6 of Derby Midland Station, a good view of everything moving in and out of the station, on the goods loops and going on and off shed. Nowadays I prefer to be on the train seated about four or five coaches back from a hard working Steam Loco, can't be bothered going spotting anymore unless there's a steam loco due through.

I was lucky SFE, I could sit at the window of my bedroom and watch the trains go by while having a tea & bun (delivered by mum) on the table next to me. There was also the Bulawayo Westgate shunt yard on the other side of the main line. So I could watch that until another mainline train came through.

I'm quite fond of stations with minimal service, such as Tees-side Airport, Denton, Pegswood and Chathill to name a few!

I also like Manors station, in Newcastle......always quite photogenic, especially in the snow! ; http://www.flickr.com/photos/wiseman2007/4327777849/

Talking about 'pet' stations I belive British Steel Redcar and Sunderland stations are up for adoptation..............................

I think my favorite station would be Laisterdyke near Bradford used to take my grub box and tizer lots going on there signalbox goods yard and if my memory is right four running lines sadly all gone years ago.
I can remember as a kid going to London with mum and dad getting out there at 11pm then walking home.
Good days :) :) :)

All but a few stations have been adopted on the Mid cheshire line. One of those few is Hale and might be the only one. Mid cheshire rail users have put the odd flower box ad fake hanging basket up, but it would be nice to adopt and get the signal box as a nice station museum. We had an abortive attpemt a few years back, but I hope someone has another go, I really do.
