Tram collision causes injuries

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/w...ds/6193803.stm :(

Two Midland Metro trams have collided in Birmingham causing minor injuries to at least 16 passengers.

The two trams collided near to Benson Road station in the Jewellery Quarter just before midday.

About 40 passengers were on the two trams. Ambulance crews took 16 people to two hospitals but their injuries are described as "bumps and bruises".

One tram is thought to have collided with the rear of another. British Transport Police are investigating.

Trams are only running between Wolverhampton and West Bromwich for the time being.

Im suprised as I thought the Midland Metro had quite a good saftey record. In the 1st couple of years there was the odd collision with a maniac motorist or two.

Good that there are no serious injuries only minor, I remember hearing an event that might have been similar to this that happened in Blackpool North in the early hours, one train collided with another at the rear. Think this happenedat the beginning of this year.
