hello from pullacross.

To introduce myself, brought up in falmouth cornwall and served my time at the docks, working on the dock shunters was a very enjoyable part of my apprenticeship.I then spent 21 years at sea as a ships engineer then moved out to NZ and worked in the power generation industry untill retirement.
The sight and smell of steam has never left me and I have been involved in preserved railways while out here. At present over seeing the rebuilding of an 0-4-0 Hudwell Clark locomotive at Oamaru Steam and Rail.

Welcome to the forum, pullacross!

More support for the statement that wherever you go in the World, you'll find a Cornishman. I believe the reasoning behind this goes back to when tin-mining ceased in Cornwall, the miners had a skill that was so much in demand, they were welcomed anywhere in the World.

:)

Look forward to seeing some photos of NZ railways which seem to be very 'American' in appearance.

Do you have anything on the Ferrymead Railway? I had an uncle who lived in Christchurch (sadly passed away a few years ago) - he was one of the volunteers helping to run the railway.
