This could be proof that railway safety is not taught well enough in schools.
I realise that it is taught, but the standard is quite vague. I have been looking at the network rail guidlines and there is they do tell you about where you can and can't go. They don't say what to do if a pet goes onto the track.

My advice is not to go after your pet at all. It is more likely than they will survive that you will as their senses will be more refined than yours and being a cat or dog, will be faster too. Your pet should get out of the way. If the pet is injured on the track or refuses to move then call the british transport police or fire brigade as safety to trains is paramount.

There is NO way I would risk life or limb to rescue/retrieve my dog like this, as Much as I Love him. It does amaze me in situations like this though, how so many people offer only High praise for the victim, yet when they are alive, they keep quiet?
