Idealized by engineer Uruguayan Joaquim Eugênio de Lima, Avenida Paulista symbolized modernity and the richness of São Paulo at the turn of the century. In 1985, the project went through adjustments with the addition of two stations in direction West: Vila Madalena and Sumaré. Was ready to serve the most important axis of expanded Centre of São Paulo, with great concentration of financial institutions, hospitals, schools, hotels, consulates, Secretaries of State, broadcasters, theatres and museums. The following year were inaugurated stations Ana Rosa and clinics, extending the excerpt to 4.7 km. Two seasons-Vila Madalena and Sumaré-were completed in 1998, adding more 2.3 km long. In 2006, the stations were opened and Immigrants Chácara Klabin, bringing to 10 the number of stations that row. In 2007, was inaugurated the High Season of Ipiranga and line 2-Green added 11 stations and 10.7 km.
