Two class 60s were seen working at the Kingsbury oil terminal on Sat last about 13.30 one was 60011. The other was inside the compond with a train of tanks. Any info on this working.

60011 had failed with a burst oil pipe in the engine room the other one had come to tow it and the train back to Toton.

I've got news for all who'd like to own a class 60 loco or more! DBSchenker is putting class 60's up for sale. If you or a Diesel group would like to preserve a good number of them now is the time to do so. Plus there selling 08 and 09 shunters and more class 56's.

Here are details at http://www.rail.dbschenker.co.uk/dis...disposals.html and www.wnxx.com/layout/navigation/forsale.htm

Hope this tip off has helped.

Well considering their age and lack of maintenance I'm not surprised.
By the way I have driven class 60's since they first came out and maintained properly will show a class 66 a "clean pair of heels" any day !

Cheers for that 21Aman. On a like for like basis then with all the same conditions and same load which would probably perform best ? A Class 56,58,59,60 or 66 In your opinion if you don`t mind me asking :)
Regards n Thanks
Kris

Depends on the route and load of train and weather conditions a 60 was by far the best on heavy trains in all weathers,a 56 was a plodder but would get you there,a 58 was good unless it rained then they would continually "slip",so would a 66 they would "slip" at speed on a bad rail.Sorry don't know anything about class 59s.
