Assesment Interview

Hello
Just signed up to this forum. I have my assessment day tomorrow for Southern Rail. Has anyone got any tips for the management interview ? I know the answers but my mind has gone to mush and my brain and mouth are not connecting. So worried about failure, I've studied so hard.:)

Sorry , bubbles.

I don't think this place is active enough to be able to help you.

There are a few other fora that might be useful.

Otherwise, just any pre-interview techniques.

Most of all , get a good night's sleep tonight and give yourself plenty of time for travelling tomorrow.
Set out everything you will need tonight ...

Good luck for tomorrow!

I guess it's a bit late now....but amongst other things you should have been able to tell them...

1) What their routes are
2) Who runs the franchise, and when it runs out
3) Where the driver depots are, and which one you are nearest
4) How long it would take to travel to (3)
5) That you can definitely get to (3) at any time of day without using public transport
6) That you have a car/motorbike full licence (and hopefully it's clean)
7 What your hobbies are. It's generally felt that trainspotting is not a good answer.
8) Why you are the best person for the job
9) That you are OK with shift work (preferably you have experience of this)
10) That you're good at dealing with the public (preferably you have experience of this)
11 That you are good at following orders
12) That you are cool under pressure
13) That you can think logically
14) That you don't take 'recreational drugs' (they will check)

It's also a good idea to have read the newspapers and know the main topics. I was actually asked "so what's in today's papers?"

Etc, etc, etc.

It's quite normal to come away thinking you didn't do very well, but you may have done better than you thought.

Fingers crossed, BW.
