Hello

Just found the forum and joined! I started working life building steam locos and have always had an interest.
I notice some members appear to be using amateur radio call signs, is that correct?
Looking forward to following the threads.

Many thanks

Hi and welcome to the railwayforum, we hope you enjoy the site. Feel free to join in where-ever you fancy... we're a friendly bunch.
Yep, by coincidence, a number of our members are radio amateurs, and some use their callsign as a username on here... I don't ;)
Cheers (73 if you are a radio amateur)
Andy

BTW: Just a stab in the dark, but are you a rare bird photographer? Our sister site is Birdforum.net

Hello

Hi Andy,

Many thanks for the welcome. I look forward to participating.
Yes I am a rare bird photographer and my call sign is G4RVO. Seems we all get involved in the same things.

All the best and 73's

I know it's off topic, but if any of you radio guys have any transmitter valves to dispose of can you PM me please.

Aha, not sure there's many rarity photographers out there on the radio but a lot of photographers and rail enthusiasts... hence the 'railways on air' weekends.
cheers,
Andy

Hopefully my GU74B will not need disposing of for many years yet ;)

Hi TC.

I should explain. I build single ended valve audio amplifiers and have used "old" radio transmitter valves. Like GU-32 (832a) QQV07/50, 829B (3E29) and PT-15.

Just looking for some others (in pairs).:D The 3 digit ones starting with 8 are favourite.
