We are hoping to install a short light railway on trackbed of the old CKPR line in CUmbria.

Hi I had a quick look at your link, I wish you well with your Light heritage railway on Keswick line trackbed.
It looks like your in for plenty of hard work. Nice photos looks a bit cold up north with all that snow.

Great project

Hello,

The area is lovely, with or without snow !

Best whishes for this project.

The question is that the former trackbed seems to have been "eaten" by industrial developements. Does it remain a long enough stretch for a train line(even a heritage railway) to make sense ?

Is there a continuity between an active rail station (the origin of the branch?) and somewhere else further along the line, or do the above mentionned industrial estate block the line close to the station? The choice of the origin of the line is important if you want to attract viisitors.

It would be great to see at least of this beautiful line reopened. It is very sad that there is now little prospect of reopening the whole length between Penrith and Keswick.

Best wishes,

John H-T.
