Freight on the Settle-Carlisle

Hi everybody,

Does anybody know approximately how many freight trains run in each direction, every week on the settle & carlisle line?

I was thinking of going on holiday & staying at the cottage on Long Marton station platform for a week, but i'm not sure if it's worth it.

I know there are about 6 DMU's per day, but wondered if it was really worth a weeks stay? Normally I spend a week at Starcross but discovered this holiday cottage right on the disused platform.

If somebody could give me a 'ball park' figure as to how many freight trains pass up and down in a week, I would be most grateful!

This is the holiday cottage in question: http://www.longmartonstation.fsnet.co.uk/

Of hand I think it is planned at 1 path an hour to / from Leeds.
Mainly Coal but some cement traffic over the S+C to Hellifield and then Clitheroe.
Gypsum traffic from Drax to near Appleby as well.
Not forgetting its also open 24 hour as well.

Thanks Ploughman! That's definitely worth a weeks stay. Imagine sun bathing on your own private platform, drinking beer, watching the cricket/football on telly, and of course.....watching the trains go by!

Nothing could be better!
