Shamchaurasi Railway Station (Dhepur) 2018 in State of Punjab, India.

Hello all railway fans.

I made on short Youtube video of my local railway station in the state of Punjab, India. In the video includes the local train service from Hoshiarpur city to Jalandhar city. From Jalandhar, you can then get the main train services to Amritsar and Delhi. Also in this YouTube video I included the local train prices which are in Indian Rupees.

The name of my local train station in this video is Shamchaurasi which is not far from Adampur town in the Punjab, India. This train was heading towards Adampur and then on to Jalandhar City Railway Station. If you have any videos of trains in India or Pakistan or elsewhere, then feel free to share your videos and pictures on this thread. Anyways here my YouTube video, enjoy
:) :)

Thanks for sharing! I found Sham Chaurasi on Google Earth. Looks like there is a big air force base nearby.

Yes that's correct. It's Adampur Air Force Base and home to the Indian Air Force. It's a fairly busy base. It's also a passenger airport now as well with SpiceJet flying daily routes to Delhi.

No problem :)

I agree with you. The BBC showed a recent documentary with Michael Portillo called The Great Indian Railway Journeys. It's a interesting documentary about his journey through India on the railways. I think he starts in Amritsar and finishes near Kolkata. It's worth watching.

G'day Carrot,
An interesting DMU, code DEMU which I presume infers diesel electric multiple unit.
A power car with accommodation at each end of the train.
I am wondering what horsepower rating the power car is.
Steve.

I have no idea Steve.

Ok Carrot,
I might google for some info when I am next at the local library.
The Kiwis had a rail car set comprising two cars, one being the motor car with some seats attached to the trailer car.
These things were called Silver Ferns.
Two sets could be amalgamated to provide for additional patronage.
But, with the drivers cab at each end of the two car set, cattle could not move between the two sets.
Steve.

Thanks for that Steve.

Loads more info on Wikipedia under NZR RM class (Silver Fern).
