This is a good thread Tony, it's good that an air of normality is resuming. I hope the galas are well attended. I see it's now official that Wells is going to the Mid-Hants, hats off to them, that must be close to a five figure outlay to do that.

I agree that it's good to see things picking up again. The Bluebell gala is pencilled in for me - it's been a while since I last saw 'Clan Line', plus 'Cheltenham' in BR livery will be a first for me. In fact, all the locos scheduled to run at the gala will be in BR livery, which is probably a first for the Bluebell which is usually renowned for it's pre-grouping liveries!

The visitors to the GCR gala have now been confirmed at BR 9F 2-10-0 No.92134 from the NYMR & GWR 2884 class 2-8-0 No.3802 from Llangollen.

LMS 8P class 4-6-2 No.6233 'Duchess of Sutherland' has been confirmed as the first visiting loco for the Severn Valley Railway's Autumn Steam Gala over the weekend of 16-19 September. One more visitor to be announced.

USATC S160 class 2-8-0 No.6046 is now visiting the Bluebell Railway through to the end of October and is likely to take part in the Giants of Steam gala on 8-10 October.

Additional visiting locomotives have been announced for the Talyllyn Railway's gala on 11/12 September which commemorates the 100th birthday of resident ex-Corris Railway Kerr Stuart 'Tattoo' class 0-4-2ST No.4 'Edward Thomas'.
Already announced was the visit of replica 'Tattoo' class No.7 from the Corris Railway - additionally two 2ft gauge Kerr Stuart locos will be visiting and running on temporary track at Tywyn (the TR is 2' 3" gauge), these being 'Sirdar' class 0-4-0T 'Diana' from the Amerton Railway & 'Tattoo' class 0-4-2ST 'Stanhope' from the Apedale Railway. https://www.railadvent.co.uk/2021/08...hday-gala.html https://www.talyllyn.co.uk/events/lo...lebration-gala Tony |
It appears that the North Norfolk steam gala on 3-5 September is to feature the home fleet of locos only, with no visiting locos booked. Even so, the roster includes GER Y14 0-6-0 No.564, LNER B12 4-6-0 No.8572, S&DJR 7F 2-8-0 No.53809, BR 4MT 2-6-0 No.76084, BR 9F 2-10-0 No.92203, WD 2-10-0 No.90775 & Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0ST 'Wissington'.

BR(W) 94XX class 0-6-0PT has been announced as the second visiting loco for the Severn Valley Railway's Autumn Steam Gala (16-19 September), joining the previously announced visitor - 6233 'Duchess of Sutherland'.

The second visiting loco for the Mid Hants Railway's Autumn Steam Gala has been announced as BR 4MT 2-6-4T No.80151 from the Bluebell Railway.
The Standard tank will be joining the previously announced visitor ex-SR 'Battle of Britain' No.34092 'City of Wells' plus ex-S&DJR 7F No.53808, BR 4MT No.76017, Ivatt 2MT No.41312 and Hunslet 'Austerity' No.3781 from the home fleet. https://watercressline.co.uk/autumn-steam-gala/ Incidentally, the visit of No.80151 temporarily gives the MHR consecutively numbered Standard 4MT tanks, as No.80150 is based on the line although not yet restored from Barry Scrapyard condition. The West Somerset Railway is holding it's Autumn Steam Gala over the weekend of Friday 1st to Sunday 3rd October featuring locos from the home fleet - GWR 'Large Prairie' No.5199, rebuilt 'Large Prairie' No.9351 and 'Manors' Nos.7822 'Foxcote Manor' & 7828 'Odney Manor'.

The Apedale Valley Light Railway's Steam Gala will feature two visiting locos from Statfold Barn: Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0WT No.GP39 & Quarry Hunslet 0-4-0ST 'Sybil Mary'.
It is hoped that the overhaul of Avonside 0-4-0T 'Ogwen' will be completed in time for the loco to put in an appearance at the gala, alongside residents Kerr Stuart 0-4-2ST 'Stanhope', Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0WT W/No.1238 & Hunslet 2-8-0T No.303. https://avlr.org.uk/event/steam-gala Tony |
The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway is holding it's 40th Anniversary gala over the weekend of 6-7 November to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the GWSR beginning work on the railway at Toddington (the railway operated it's first passenger services in 1984).
The gala is set to feature all available steam & diesel locomotives to include: GWR 42XX No.4270, 'Modified Hall' No.7903 'Foremark Hall', 'Manor' No.7820 'Dinmore Manor', ex-SR 'Merchant Navy' No.35006 'Peninsular & Oriental S.N. Following on from John's post regarding the withdrawal 60009 'Union of South Africa' from service (and therefore the ELR's Autumn steam gala), the visiting locos are now confirmed for the gala: LMS-designed Ivatt 2MT 2-6-2T No.41312 from the Mid Hants Railway & GWR-designed 'Manor' 4-6-0 No.7820 'Dinmore Manor' from the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway.

It appears that BR 4MT 2-6-4T No.80151 & visiting USATC S160 2-8-0 No.6046 will not be available for the Bluebell Railway gala this weekend, although the reason for their absence is not yet clear. SR S15 4-6-0 No.847 & SE&CR H class 0-4-4T No.263 will be taking their place at the gala, and No.6046 will be on static display at Sheffield Park.
