Cala D`or "railbus"

Im in Cala D`or for a weeks holiday, I have come across what is a bus service but it is a train, there is a pretend stem loco thats diesel powered and haules two wagons that passengers sit in to travel, and stops at bus stops. Not seen any real scale traction since arrival, but I bet it would be good to have a railway in the area I am in, since there are so many coaches taking passengers from Palma airport, a railway might be more efficient than so many coaches.

I have read somewhere that there is some sort of plan to run a tram/light rail to various resorts on Mallorca. I think I remember that there was some mention of serving the airport.

Stupid me forgot to mention the electric railways and tram service that operate out of Palma. There are two rail lines, one was being overhauled in a big way quite recently. The other operates to Soller where one gets the tram to the port.

Yesterday a coach broke down on one of the roads in the town, with many parked cars on the opposite side it blocked the whole road. :D

Well Im back in the UK now (got to see a 185 and a VT 57 on the Stockport line as I flew over heading for Manchester Airport). Luckily my coach didn't break down but my flight was delayed, which I found out when we were all in the aircraft with no air conditioning untill takeoff which was unknown, due to heavy traffic on all Manchster routes. I suppose the problem with a ralway would be the cost and space in Majorca, even though it wold be more efficient then so many coaches. Because of the many different languages it wiuld make it hard, but you could have an automated system like onthe TPX 185's in different languages to tell passengers where they are.

I managed to get a photo of the Cala D'Or 'railbus' so I will post it up soon.
