Minsters rail campaign

The Minsters Rail Campaign which is campaigning to re-open the line between York and Beverley with stations at Stamford Bridge, Pocklington and Market Weighton, is having a public meeting in Stamford Bridge on Thursday 10th November at 7.30pm. The venue is the cricket club on Low Catton Road. Come along and find out about our plans!

Good luck with the campaign. It would make a great line.

Best wishes,

John H-T.

Will that line go through Fangfoss ?

class48nswfan 30th October 2011 23:20

Thanks you Les for your best wishes. I will endeavour to keep the forum informed of our progress (and no doubt our frustrations).

Phillip - yes the line will go through Fangfoss but we do not propose to re-open the station as there will be very limited demand in the immediate area and we want to keep journey time to a minimum between the more important stations. Do you live in the area or know anyone in that area? If so I hope you can come to the meeting or infrom people you might know locally.

I am probably off air until Friday now (away on business) so if anyone posts to this thread I will respond then.

I only know the area because I once stayed at the caravan site that occupies the former station site. The old station is a listed building and is now the caravan site office.

That was about 4 years ago, and I noticed the old station in Pocklington when we cycled over that way.

May i wish you and all like minded people the very best of luck, at least you are getting a hearing, so there's cause for optimism.
