Nothampton and Lamport

Dont know where to put this really, so if Admin want to move it, it is fine.

Anyway I have read in a December issue of a railway magazine the the Northampton and Lamport railway has had problems with metal thieves visiting at night or when the site is closed. Thats a bad "do" you know, because like every other preserved railway they have people who work very hard for the joy of others and then scumbags come and help themselves.
Disgusting.

It happens on most preserved lines unfortunately, there's a report that a complete 4 car ex-southern region EMU will have to be scrapped due to the amount of damage caused by metal thieves at the Churnet Valley Railway. At Chasewater a few years back a complete loco frame from a very historic diesel shunter was stolen overnight, last year 5690 Leander had a load of copper piping nicked while it was parked at Quorn overnight awaiting movement to Loughborough. The Midland Railway Centre reported that a load of carriage door handles went overnight. It's not just the preserved lines that suffer, there was a report some months back that the police nicked a bunch of thieves who had removed a load of copper parts from class 47's parked up at Gloucester depot.

yes and if these "low life" get caught, what do they get...a slapped wrist, a fine which they can pay off at a tenner a week and community service.
