The station commandments.

Stations are good places to us. They are spiritual in a way.
According to the operating companies, all enthusiasts are terrorists with rocket launchers under their anoraks or something.
If they were at the head of a religion, heres what I think their commandments would look like.
1. Obey orders from our staff even though we don't own the station.
2. No photographs of the trains or station. This is a sin.
3. No notes on trains as they pass. This is a sin.
4. No tupper ware and other stereotypical equipment. This is a sin.
5. Keep well away from the stations unless catching a train.
6. Video cameras are apparently ileagal.
7. asking about trackwork is a sin.
8. asking about more than three trains is a sin.
9. Steam is eeeeeevil!
10. Heritage is eeeeeeevil!

Whats the world comming to?

Well, when at Carlisle station at the end of June, a steam train came into the station. Well over half the people in the entire station got out a camera and took a picture of it. Many of them were not intending to catch a train either.

It would seem that that breaks several of these commandments, yet nobody tried to stop it - indeed the man at the ticket barriers was letting through just about anyone who showed him a camera, and pointing them to the place with the best view of the train.

Very strange, these things seem to vary from place to place such as the east coast line and the famous macclesfield incident.
