Hi Echo, just to make you feel at home, have a look at my friend's website - it's lots of photos & recollections of Chinese steam locos taken on 17 visits to China since 1994. It will be enlarged, all the photos were on Fotopic, which went bust, and he's putting it back together. It's at:-

Thank you.
Our country manufactured 9698 steam locomotives before 1988.
The names of them all have history marks.
For example "Liberation".
I believe you will find some history and culture of China by them.
